Where can I find Hanalei Yoga SUP?

All of our stand-up paddleboarding and SUP yoga classes launch from Tidwell Park Boat Ramp at Lake Lanier or Glade Marina or Little River Marina at Lake Allatoona. When you register for a class, you will receive a confirmation email with directions to our location and more details. See our schedule.

What time should I arrive?

If this is your first class, please arrive at least 15 minutes before the class starts to sign a waiver and get fitted for all your equipment (life jacket, leash, paddleboard and paddle). Please do not be late. We cannot accommodate latecomers as we will leave the dock promptly when class begins.

Do I need to register for classes online?

Yes, please. That way, we know you are coming and can make sure we have a board and gear for you. Drop-ins are fine if you have your own board but we’d still love to know that you’re coming to communicate with you if we have to cancel due to weather or another unforeseen circumstance. You must register for the class online to receive the discount for bringing your own board.

How do I apply the discount for bringing my own board?

You must register online for class. Use the coupon code BYOB at checkout. Please note, we cannot provide the discount when you drop in to a class. Also you will need to rent an anchor from us for $5 if you don’t bring your own anchor.

How many people are in a class?

We can accommodate up to 14 people using our borrowed boards, more if you’re bringing your own board.

What should I wear?

The World Paddle Association says to “dress like you’re going for a light jog.” Wear comfortable, quick-drying clothing that you don’t mind getting wet and dress for the air and water temperature. For SUP, we like shorts or swim tights and a rashguard. For yoga and PaddleFit, wear what you would feel comfortable doing yoga or exercising in, whether that’s leggings or shorts with a swimsuit or other top. Do not wear any cotton or denim. Consider wearing a hat to shield your face from the sun and bring a strap for your sunglasses so they don’t slide into the water by accident.

What else should I bring?

A water bottle to stay hydrated. Apply sunscreen before you come to class. We will supply the boards and all gear but you’re welcome to bring your own board, paddle and lifejacket. If you bring your own board, you will need to bring your own life jacket. It’s the law!

Will we still have class if it’s raining?

SUP in the rain is divine. As long as it’s safe (no thunder and lightning), class will go on. If we have to cancel due to inclement weather, we will notify registered participants two hours before class time. You have the option to reschedule or receive a refund.

If I need to cancel, can I get a refund?

We do not offer refunds for day-of cancellations or no shows. The scheduling system allows you to change your reservation up to 24 hours before the class start time. This is for scheduled classes only. There are no refunds for retreats, special events or trainings, per the waiver you sign when you book.

I’ve only done yoga on land, not on a paddleboard. Will I be OK in SUP yoga?

Yes, beginners of all kinds are welcome. We have students who have never done either one and do great. We will start out really slow and give a lot of cues. Our classes (with the exception of PaddleFit, which requires previous paddleboarding experience) can accommodate all levels, from beginner to advanced.

I’m advanced in SUP yoga. Are your classes only for beginners?

Advanced practitioners are welcome. Our classes accommodate a full range of levels. We give verbal cues and modifications for advanced students to make it more challenging and skill-appropriate.

Are you a yoga teacher?

Yes, Jana Rife is a certified yoga, SUP yoga and SUP instructor. For more on her credentials, please see our About page.
